Types of transformer substations

Types of transformer substations
Transformer substations are indispensable power systems that convert electricity voltage, ensuring its transfer over long distances and safe use in everyday life and industry. There are many types of substations that differ in power, purpose and constructive features. Let's look at the main of them.
Open -type substations
The most common type. Imagine a platform on which transformers, high -voltage equipment and protection equipment are installed. All this is in the open air, is protected only from precipitation and the hit of foreign objects. This approach is simple and economical in construction, but has its own restrictions. For example, it is sensitive to weather conditions, requires large areas and is limited in use in densely populated areas. But the maintenance and repair of equipment at such substations is usually easier.
Closed -type substations (internal)
These substations are located inside the buildings - specially designed for this room. This significantly increases the level of equipment protection from adverse weather conditions, vandalism and random damage. They are more compact than open -type substations, and can be placed in places with limited space, for example, in urban conditions or inside industrial enterprises. However, the cost of construction and maintenance of such substations is higher. Personnel safety here is also at a high level, thanks to the controlled environment.
KRO (complete distribution devices)
Cruise is compact prefabricated blocks that contain all the necessary equipment: transformers, switches, measuring devices and protective equipment. They are assembled at the factory and then installed at the facility. This approach allows you to minimize installation work and reduce the time for commissioning the substation. The kro is often used in city networks and at industrial facilities, where the compactness and speed of installation is important. They provide a high degree of safety and reliability, since all components are carefully tested and agreed.
The choice of the type of transformer substation depends on many factors: power, location, climatic conditions, safety requirements and economic feasibility. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages, and the right choice guarantees reliable and effective functioning of the entire energy system.
