The main function of the CTP is a decrease in high voltage coming along the power lines to a lower, safe voltage for consumers. The high voltage measured in kilovolt is converted into a voltage of 0.4 kV or 6-10 kV, which is then used to power residential buildings, enterprises and other objects. This process is similar to a gradual decrease in water in the pipe: first a powerful stream, and then - smooth and safe for use.

CTP does not just lower the voltage, they also provide protection of the electric network from overloads and short circuits. Inside the substation there are a number of protective devices that instantly respond to any deviations from the norm and turn off the damaged section of the network. This prevents serious accidents and provides uninterrupted power supply to consumers. You can compare this with the automatic signaling system in the house: it works quietly, but in case of danger it works instantly, preventing serious consequences.
